Pierce Brosnan became a worldwide sensation thanks to the role of James Bond, but he thinks it’s time for this franchise to experience a major shake-up and cast a woman in the lead.
The prospect of a female James Bond has been discussed for quite some time, and Brosnan recently shared his thoughts on the matter with The Hollywood Reporter and he’s totally on board with the idea.
“I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting,” said the actor.
Pierce Brosnan also reflected on his time playing this iconic character at the Deauville Film Festival and described it as one of the highlights of his career.
“James Bond has a certain significance and a deep pride. I will be asked about him until my dying days – it just goes with the territory. I was honored to play the role and I rejuvenated a franchise that had been dormant,” said the Golden Globe-nominated actor.
Brosnan portrayed Bond in four movies, ending with Die Another Day in 2002 before Daniel Craig took over the role.
